Our History

Founding partner, Mike Brockway, opened a branch in Temple as a manager for a Waco, Texas-based accounting firm in 1976. A year later, Leland Gersbach joined the team and 10 years later Mike and Leland officially founded BGFN, choosing to serve the people of Temple. Leland became a Tax Partner in 1984. Steve Niemeier joined the firm in 1985, becoming an Audit Partner in 1992, and President of the Firm in 1995. Cindy Franklin moved from an Abilene accounting firm joining BGFN in 1998. Cindy became a Tax Partner in 2005. Terri Marshall joined BGFN in 1995 and became a firm principal in 2016. In 2020 BGFN welcomed three new partners: Kerri Meier, who has been with the firm since 1999; Adam Haberer, who has been with the firm since 2009; and Christine Wells, who has been with the firm since 2010.

Over the years, BGFN has remained committed to providing outstanding quality accounting services in the Central Texas area including Temple, Belton, Killeen, Waco, Gatesville, Georgetown, Round Rock, Leander and more. BGFN has provided invaluable service to companies and individuals by remaining focused on core accounting services rather than venturing in other waters. This prevents conflicting cross-selling or hidden motives.

ONE FIRM APPROACH

Now, after more than 45 years from when Mike Brockway opened the branch in Temple, TX, BGFN proudly employs over 25 staff members – all of whom are passionate and dedicated to providing outstanding service for all clients, large and small. We believe in a one firm approach – everything and everyone is important.
